The recent implementation of the South Johor Economic Region (SJER) as detailed in National Physical Plan 2005 – 2020 (NPP 2005 – 2020) has prompted the need to develop the areas within the realm of the region. As proposed in the Comprehensive Development Plan for South Johor Economic Region, the District of Pasir Gudang will also be developed as part of the SJER. With that, the project proponent (Johor Corporation Sdn. Bhd.) intends to develop an area (Kg. Pasir Puteh) within the District of Pasir Gudang. The proposed development mainly comprises of construction of mixed development area and reclamation. It will be carried out in three phases, namely Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3. Phase 1 and Phase 2 will constitute housing while Phase 3 is for mixed development on the reclaimed land. Johor Corporation Sdn. Bhd. has commissioned the Environmental Section of Dr. Nik & Associates Sdn. Bhd. to conduct a Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (DEIA) Study for the proposed development. Part of the DEIA study is conducted by UKM Pakarunding Sdn. Bhd., a renowned consultancy organisation.
