DNASB also takes pride in the Construction of Breakwater, Dredging and Associated Marine Works at the Sungai Terengganu river mouth, Kuala Terengganu which is under the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID/JPS). As the PMC, DNASB has provided services ranging from design review and monitoring, contract administration, construction management and cost control, environmental auditing and compliance, to post construction management. The main objective is to ensure that the project is delivered on time, and within the specified budget while meeting with the specified quality and standard. This is especially imperative for a specialised project that involves dredging, reclamation and the construction of breakwater at the Kuala Terengganu river mouth.
Another major project that DNASB was involved in as the PMC is the Design, Completion, Commissioning, Equipping and Maintenance of the Proposed Royal Malaysian Naval Base at Teluk Sapangar, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah whereby the project cost is estimated to be about RM 600 million. For this project, Pengurusan Lebuhraya Berhad (PLB) is the PMC appointed by the Government to provide project management services. DNASB was invited to participate as the specialist consultant on coastal, geotechnical, port and harbour, environmental and hydraulic fields. The engagement of DNASB was based on the company’s good track record, experience and availability of a wide spectrum of specialists who could provide solid support and advice to PLB.
A prestigious project worth mentioning is the SMART Tunnel where DNASB’s involvement was in providing specialist input in the field of tunnel design and structure, flood forecasting, highway, geotechnical and QA/QC. The total project cost was about RM 1.923 billion. The specialist support was to complement DID in managing the design and construction aspects with the objective of ensuring delivery of project. The SMART Tunnel project has won many major international construction competitions; hence making Malaysia prominent on the world map of infrastructure construction.
